Toyota, the world’s largest auto manufacturer, recently announced they are recalling certain Toyota and Lexus Division models due to the vehicles experiencing sudden acceleration problems. The models affected and subsequently recalled are:
Toyota
- 2009-2010 RAV4
- 2009-2010 Corolla
- 2009-2010 Matrix
- 2005-2010 Avalon
- 2007-2010 Camry
- 2010 Highlander
- 2007-2010 Tundra
- 2008-2010 Sequoia
Lexus
- 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350
- 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 & Lexus IS 350
The central issue/problem regarding the sudden acceleration involves Toyota’s decision in 2001-2002 to install electronic throttle-control systems in the aforementioned vehicles called the ETCS Intelligent System. Unfortunately, Toyota has discovered this system malfunctions. When the system malfunctions, the vehicle accelerates despite the fact the driver does not even have his/her foot on the gas pedal. This has resulted in numerous accidents around the country, many of which involve fatalities.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a motor vehicle accident involving one of the affected models mentioned above, and the cause of the accident was due to the sudden acceleration of the vehicle, please contact our office at 954-713-8020 or 1-877-LAW-GARY, or another Toyota Recall attorney immediately.
